Located 28 km outside of Fethiye, Tlos is one of the oldest settlements in the world. Once the Hittite city of Dlawa, the area has been inhabited from the Lykian times until the 19th century. Known as the sports city among the Lykians, the town is home to the mythological Pegasus and Bellerophon. The surviving structures at Tlos include the Acropolis, Kanlı Ali Ağa Palace, the Stadium, the Gymnasium, the Palaestra, the Baths, the Theater and the necropolis that contains the tomb of Bellerophon. Under the castle, you can see Lykia's historical ruins and city walls of Ancient Rome in the south. You can walk through the Lykian Rock Tombs, the bath, the palaestra and the gymnasium as well as through the extremely well-preserved theater. Frescos of Bellerophon's battle against his winged horse Pegasus make the trip all the more interesting.
