If you follow the path to the south from the historic fortress of Fethiye for 7 km, you will reach an enchanting Greek village that used to be inhabited until 1922. Kayaköy' s old name is Levissi. During the population exchange between Greece and Turkey in 1922, Thracian Turks and Anatolian Greeks swapped places. However, the Thracian villagers who then settled in this area could not adapt to the environment and abandoned the village soon after they arrived. Abandoned since 1923, Kayaköy greets its guests as a "ghost town."
