Hisarönü Ovacik

Great Views

The beautiful tourist holiday resort of Hisaronu which is situated on the west Mediterranean coast of Turkey. May I say firstly that this Hisaronu is in the province of Mugla and is near Fethiye and Ölüdeniz. I mention this because there are a few more Hisaronu's around Turkey. Within these pages you will find information about Hotel, villa and Apartment accommodation, Restaurants and bars, shopping, transport, places to visit and things to do etc.

You will also find information regarding buying property in Hisaronu and surrounding areas. You can find this in the Property section marked on the menu. The information provided will be of help to people who are thinking of holidaying in Turkey for the first time, and also for those who are frequent visitors. The ideal opportunity for you to meet a lot of people who have been going to Hisaronu for a number of years. As you drive from Fethiye up the mountain to the charming village of Hisaronu, not only do you take in the beautiful scenery but on a hot summers day you can notice a welcoming difference in temperature as you climb. The first area you pass through is Ovacik which is mainly hotels and apartments and one or two shops, then you come into Hisaronu village itself.

The resort is popular with British visitors and the shops, restaurants and bars cater extensively for the needs of all age groups. There is plenty of accommodation in the village, from pensions to five star hotels, most of which have their own swimming pool, ideal for those who want a lazy relaxing holiday. For those who want a more active holiday there is Ölüdeniz, which has the most photographed beach in Turkey and is only a ten minute journey by the regular Dolmus service down the mountain, where you will be able to find a variety of water sports i.e.- water ski-ing, Para sailing, scuba diving, snorkelling, pedaloes etc. For the braver of you there is paragliding from the top of Babadag mountain and landing on the beach. If you prefer a more relaxing day on the water there are a selection of boat trips available from both Ölüdeniz and Fethiye.

Ölüdeniz beach sweeps round in a vast crescent of coarse sand and shingle to the Lagoon, which is a National Park area now and a small charge (50p) is levied for entry. The cooler temperature in Hisaronu welcomes you back from a hard day at the beach and offers a well earned rest before your evening's entertainment. Hisaronu is a recently established resort and although it has grown in the last few years it still retains a friendly vibrant atmosphere. It is an ideal place for walkers as there are plenty of winding paths through the forests with wonderful views, and of course a visit to Kayakoy (the ghost village), where the Greeks once lived. There are plenty of excursions on offer in the village and I can recommend Activities Unlimited for all your excursions i.e.- Ephesus,Pammukale,Dalyan and day trips to the Greek island of Rhodes.

The night life in Hisaronu can be as lively or as quiet as you make it, you have plenty of choice. A must for shoppers is the market in Fethiye, where you will find the best bargains as it is the biggest Bazaar in the area. Fethiye itself is worth a visit to take in the history of the place, or to have a romantic walk round the harbor.

Our 4-star hotel Club Orka Hotel & Villas is located in Ovacık. The hotel is 6 km from Fethiye, which is famous for its historical buildings and magnificent gulf, 700 m from the bustling streets of Hisarönü, and 4 km from Turkey's most popular and best known beach, Ölüdeniz.
