The Blue Lagoon and the Belcekız Beach are wonders of nature that are collectively known as the "blue paradise." Discover the Blue Lagoon, one of the favorite locations of the entire world, with its crystal-clear turquoise seas for swimming and water sports and with its white sandy beaches where the sun is always shining. In 2006 Bild, the best-selling newspaper in Germany, ranked the Blue Lagoon "The Most Beautiful Beach in the World" with a staggering 82% vote. There is a still quality about the Blue Lagoon, as the name implies. While the Blue Lagoon appears to be still, its waters are constantly replaced through three invisible sources. The first, sources are the water springs at the bottom of the sea floor, which create a current towards the open sea. The second one has to do with the salt balance. Since the water springs give rise to a difference between the salt levels of the open sea and of the Blue Lagoon, there is a constant back and forth between the salty sea and the sweet Blue Lagoon. And the third source is the tidal waves. Once every three days, the water levels go up and down by about half a meter. This causes plenty of sea water exchange.
